Examples of APA Research Papers
Examples of APA Research PapersResearchers in a number of fields are required to present at APA meetings. This article discusses how researchers in a wide range of academic disciplines should present their work to the profession at large. When I attended the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association (APA), I noticed an unusually large number of papers submitted by 'commodity' psychologists. I knew they were coming because many of them had titles which seemed to imply that they were about 'behavioral economics.' I then asked one of the main organizers if this was a mistake and he said that this was really the best papers to come out of this year's meeting.A behavioral economist is someone who studies the psychology of behavior and specifically, how people interact with one another in the real world. He studies human behavior and interaction and tries to determine why people do things, how to change people's behavior, and why people fail. Behavioral economists do not stud y the behavior of individuals; they study the behavior of groups, institutions, or societies. Typically, a behavioral economist also writes on issues like ethics, political economy, or public policy. One of the first things you should do when preparing your paper is to read up on a few good examples of work from the same field. The reasons for this are very simple: the more similar your paper is to others, the better. It is also important to remember that each discipline has its own conventions, so your paper should be written in the specific voice of the field you are working in.By this I mean that you should avoid such terminology as 'objective'subjective' and make sure that your subjects are actually defined. Also, avoid vague and general phrases like 'the analysis and results of'the contribution of' which would leave you open to misinterpretation. However, there is a big difference between writing an outline and writing a paper. The research presentation needs to be done before yo u begin writing the paper, not after you have completed it. A good way to make sure you get this right is to read your paper through several times to see if there are any mistakes that you might have missed during the edit process.Although I haven't been a psychologist since high school, I can tell you that once I finished writing my paper, I was simply shocked at how difficult it was to write. I spent a lot of time writing ideas down, and because I had never done this before, I struggled a lot. When I eventually wrote my paper, I realized that I had basically written the outline for the next chapter of my PhD thesis!Even though I was frustrated, I didn't stop to think that maybe I needed to increase my writing skills, or I may not have even finished the paper. I know that I learned a lot, and my topic was one of the easier ones for me to write about, but I don't think I got the research topics I wanted to focus on.
